One of the biggest earthquakes ever, registering 8.9 on the Richter scale. A tsunami wave that has killed thousands, left hundreds homeless, and destroyed billions worth of assets. And a nuclear disaster that is just waiting to erupt.
But guess how Bangaloreans are being reassured that all is well in the bubble they inhabit?
That, thank heavens, their sushi meal won’t be affected despite all this misery; that the Japanese restaurants in the City have stocked up on six months’ supplies.

A few days back, it was Sapna and other bookshops offering discount on Amar Chitra Kathas to mourn Uncle Pai’s death and now it is ITC & TOI.
Remember ToI setting up the photo session for a movie with its hero — Akshay Kumar and RK Laxman, who was hospitalised and on IV support!

are we all like this only? Crass consumerists bothered about eating, drinking and making merry, so let the rest of the world get washed away by tsunamis. Oh, and we seize every opportunity to blame the ‘authorities for all that ails us,’ especially if we cant get enough sushi.
